MacLean’s Celtic Cross Historic Celtic cross from Iona
This is a scale artists reconstruction by Stuart Fellowes depicting the 15th century MacLeans Celtic Cross and shows how this chlorite-schist stone cross may have looked when originally carved. Dedicated to a Maclean of Duart on Mull, this high cross displays a crucifixion scene which is supported by foliaceous interlacing. Today the cross stands on the roadside near Iona Nunnery.
This piece is a resin cast reproduction of Stuarts’ original hand-carved sculpture
