This wall plaque depicts a Celtic knotwork roundel. This Celtic knot design was originally drawn by Tiree Islander, Johnny Barr at wood carving classes at the Tiree Lodge hotel in 1902. The design was intended for a wooden table top. I don't know if Johnny built his table or whether it still exists but I have used the design to represent a piece of carved stone which is sculpted in a style inspired by ancient Celtic & Pictish rock art.
This piece is a resin cast reproduction of Stuarts’ original hand-carved sculpture
