History in miniature
Celtic Cross & carved stones
Pictish Cross & carved stones
Historic Architecture models
This piece is a contemporary Sculpture by Stuart Fellowes and depicts a Christian Crucifixion cut out, on a basic Celtic Cross form. The original of this piece was carved by Stuart Fellowes into a block of wax in the same manner that a Celtic craftsman would have done to create a “Lost Wax” bronze casting. It is finished in an antiqued polished bronze effect to represent an ancient artifact
The Celtic Cross has been used as a Christian symbol since the 4th Century and has it’s origins with early Pagan Celts who used similar designs to create a “Sun Cross”, later ascribed Christian meaning by missionaries to convert the Celts and Picts to Christianity.
The cross symbol is thought to be a meeting place and recepticle for divine energies. This sculpture carries the spirit of the Celtic craftsmen and embodies the virtues of the cross
Cold cast bronze reproduction of Stuart Fellowes’ original sculpture.
